In BEST WESTERN Los Andes de America Hotel we have always believed that our activities should have a positive impact in the community where we operate and in our environment.

That is why we seek for the viability of our business activity, and at the same time we work together with our staff, our visitors and our society in order to contribute to the development of our community, to preserve our cultural heritage and to protect our environment.

1. Verification Seal “Rainforest Alliance Verified TM”

Since 2008 we have been working with the Rainforest Alliance training, developing and implementing best sustainable practices based on Global Sustainable Tourism Criteria.

In September of 2011, we obtained the International Verification Seal of “The Rainforest Alliance Verified TM”, for Sustainable Tourism.

2. Our Community

We are committed to be socially responsible and to support the development of the community where we operate. We seek to support the development of our employees, their families and our community; and to preserve and promote the Andean culture.

- Andean Communities Weaver Artisans:

We have developed a program to support the weaver artisans of Sicuani, San Jeronimo and Cusco Andean communities providing them training and organizing trade fairs, where they can sell their products and have a culturally interaction with our visitors.

- Organization of Events and Activities in our Hotel:

  • Fair trade organization and direct sales of textiles products, fashion shows and exhibition of the ancient textile elaboration techniques used by the weaver artisans in the elaboration of their tissues.
  • Gastronomic Fair Organization, where you can find an exhibition of native Andean foods and our visitors can try our Andean plates.

- Community Services:
Together with our employees and with our partners support, we develop programs to support the communities where we have our business activities.

  • We promote the inclusion and we respect the diversity of gender, ethnicity, religion or ideology; not only of our staff, but also throughout our supply chain.

We are committed to ensuring that our work supports a healthy environment. We seek to prevent, decrease or eliminated our environmental impact.

Since 2000 we have started to develop environmental management processes with the ISO 14001 System; which has been complemented in 2008 with the implementation of best environmental practices; with the technical assistance from the Rainforest Alliance.

- Building a Green Hotel:

  • We seek to protect our environment, through the implementation of best environmental practices and the development of sustainable solutions.
  • We seek to minimize our impact on the environment through the control of our processes and reducing the use of natural resources.

- Energy Conservation:

  • Energy conservation is essential for our planet healthy, and in our hotel we use it responsibly.
  • We have a plan for use and energy saving, which is shared and implemented by all the staff.
  • We have consumption and energy saving goals.
  • We try hard to have an energy-efficient design, both in our facilities and our equipment.
  • We teach to our guests the responsible use of electricity, through informational brochures in the rooms.

- Water Conservation:

  • Water is essential for life, and in our hotel we use it responsible.
  • We have a plan for use and water saving, which is shared and implemented by all the staff.
  • We have consumption and water saving goals
  • We teach to our guests the responsible use of water, through informational brochures in the rooms and signs in the bathrooms.

- Waste Management and Recycling:

  • We are committed to reduce wastes, so we have a solid waste management and recycling plan.
  • We work together with the Municipality of Cusco, through the PANTI Program, in the selection and delivery of solid waste and recycling material.
  • We have goals for reducing the amount of waste generated.
  • We teach to our guests to classify their waste, through informational brochures in the rooms and the adequate use of containers.

- Raw Material and Inputs:

  • We use biodegradable and/or environmentally friendly products in order to clean or maintenance the hotel facilities.
  • We avoid the use of toxic materials that could harm people or the environment.
