Getting to Cusco

International airlines operate flights to Jorge Chavez airport in Lima.From there you can take a domestic flight to Cusco, whose approximate duration is 60 minutes.The main domestic airlines are: LATAM Airlines, Avianca, Peruvian Airlines, Star Peru and LCP.

There are also flights from and to Arequipa, Juliaca (Puno) and Puerto Maldonado. Velasco Aztete Airport of Cusco  is 15 minutes away from BW Los Andes of America Hotel and the city center.

By land is connected with Lima-Nazca, Puno, Arequipa and Puerto Maldonado.

 Because Cusco is a world tourist destination, we recommend making your reservations of air tickets, hotels, tours arrangement, train tickets and entrance to Machupicchu well in advance. Keep in mind that the peak season is from June to September. If you want to do the Inca Trail, you must make reservations through an authorized travel agency and several months in advance.

Weather and Geography of Cusco

The city of Cusco has an elevation of 3326 m, so it is recommended for visitors not to overdo physical activity the first few days, especially if you come from coastal cities like Lima. Tourist Information

In order to carry out the tours and / or walks around Cusco and be able to enter the tourist attractions, you need to purchase different tickets. The main ticket is the tourist ticket (Boleto Turístico), which includes visits to 16 tourist sites of Cusco, including archaeological sites in Cusco, surroundings, The Sacred Valley of Urubamba, the South Valley, and museums and churches. In order to visit the Sanctuary of Machupicchu you need to purchase train tickets to Aguas Calientes, the main companies providing this service are: Peru Rail, Machu Picchu Train and Inca Rail, (we recommend to book this first), you also must purchase Bus tickets to reach the archaeological complex and the entrance to Machu Picchu, which can be booked electronically through the following link www.machupicchu.gob.pe, or through a travel agency. If it is peak time we recommend you do this several days in advance.

If you go out at night or early in the morning, you should not walk alone. Take a taxi to your hotel at night after returning from a bar or a restaurant; make sure it is an official taxi (they have neon sign on the roof with its phone number). Taxi in Cusco is Cheap, the rate, in the historic center, is PEN 3.0 during the day and PEN 4.0 at night.
